Sofia Hosted the 2nd Most Attended Digital Finance Outreach National Discussion on the New EU Digital Finance Strategy

On June 16, the Bulgarian Fintech Association (BFA) in collaboration with the European Commission organized a national online public discussion on the new EU Digital Finance Strategy. With more than 200 attendees from the Fintech ecosystem in the country, the local event became the 2nd most attended one after the Lithuanian Digital Finance Outreach webinar.

The Digital Finance Outreach 2020 was a series of events organised in collaboration with the EU Member States between February-June 2020. The series focused on fintech and digital innovation in the financial sector to facilitate the preparation of the new EU digital finance strategy

The events aimed at giving European ecosystems the opportunity to share best practices applied locally as well as the challenges that they are facing. The series included 19 national webinars, 8 roundtables and a closing conference to facilitate the collaboration between the various EU fintech hubs in line with the Commission’s priority in creating a single market for digital finance and to ask for their opinion on the future shape of the Digital Finance legislation in the EU.

The Digital Finance Outreach National event in Sofia focused on the following questions:

  • How the EU can enable fintech companies to scale up across the single market
  • How the EU can promote a more data-driven financial sector
  • What can the EU do to enhance digital operation resilience in the financial system
  • How to cope with cyber risks, among others.

As a next step, the BFA is going to come up with an official statement to the European Commission on the new EU Digital Finance strategy. It will sum up all the key points discussed during the event. The document will be published soon on the website of the Association.
