Health & Life Sciences Cluster Bulgaria Enters New Key Partnerships

 

The team of Health & Life Sciences Cluster Bulgaria has gone into several key partnerships in recent months.

The Cluster, together with Sofia Municipality and Sofia Tech Park, has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, which will establish the first of its kind in Bulgaria BioCenter Sofia. It will be an area where scientists, entrepreneurs, students, startups in the sector, and innovators will find an expert environment, support for project development, access to new markets, technologies, and specialized services to support their sustainable development and competitiveness.

The Center’s activities will initiate partnerships and joint projects between the academic, research, industrial and regional communities and aim to position Sofia on the international map in the field of biotechnology and life sciences. Among the first projects of the Center will be the preparation of an analysis of the existing capacity and resources in the biotech sector in Bulgaria.

The Cluster established another two key partnerships at the international level – with the global digital health platform ECHAlliance (European Connected Health Alliance) and with Oxentia – Oxford’s global company for innovation management and technology commercialization.

ECHAlliance is a global connector of digital health technology stakeholders and brings together alliances from 78 countries, 16,500 experts from the government, health, private sector, leading companies in the sector, patient organizations, investors. The organization develops the global ecosystem, policies in the field, organizes international events and initiatives for knowledge exchange and technology transfer. The Alliance’s website already has a page about the activities of the Health & Life Sciences Cluster Bulgaria and publishes news from the local ecosystem. 

The agreement with Oxentia aims to foster knowledge exchange and innovation between the UK and Bulgaria, as well as internationalization, technology transfer, support for innovative enterprises in the sector, and to improve the activities of academia and centers of excellence.
