On 18 February (Thursday), from 10:00 to 12:00, we will talk about our project “Sandbox for Innovative Solutions” at a meeting with the Bulgarian Startup Association in a BESCO Business Breakfast setup. The meeting will be held online and is freely accessible after registration here. In addition to learning more about the project, you will also be able to ask your questions and discuss ideas and opportunities along with us. The conversation will be moderated by the BESCO team, and the project will be presented by Gencho Kerezov, Deputy Mayor of Sofia for Digitalization, Innovation, and Economic Development.

“Innovative Solutions Sandbox” is Innovative Sofia’s pilot projects programme for testing pilot innovative tech solutions related to urban challenges. Solutions will be sought for environmental, educational, transport, entrepreneurial, and other issues defined by the city administration, with the goal to turn Sofia into a testing ground for products or services developed locally by Sofia-based companies.

The programme is part of the Action Plan for the implementation of the Strategy for the Digital Transformation of Sofia (DTSS), adopted unanimously by the Sofia Municipal Council in October 2020, and focuses on the environment, education, transport, e-government, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

The pilot projects aim to:

• generate data to serve as evidence-based city solutions and policies based on data;
• test innovative technological solutions and identify scalable projects, incl. for the activities under the DTSD Action Plan;
• improve the quality of public services through innovation;
• improve the quality of life in Sofia by implementing smart urban solutions.
