The Global FinTech Festival International Forum will be held for the second year in a row between September 28 and 30, 2021. The theme of this year’s edition is “Empowering the Global Digital Economy.” The event aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the latest business, policy, investment and technology developments in financial technology (FinTech) worldwide, as well as:

• to bring together leading international leaders from a technological and innovative ecosystem to present their experience and strategic observations related to global technological transformation;
• to position strategic assets to attract larger investments;
• to propose a long-term and sustainable roadmap for improving the available knowledge base;
• to provide a global platform for the exchange of experience, good practices and successful projects from around the world.

The event will be held online and is expected to be attended by over 250 speakers and 35,000 participants from around the world, including representatives of government and fintech organizations, academia, banks, business and the entrepreneurial ecosystem and others. from countries such as Great Britain, Japan, Australia, Turkey, Switzerland, Taiwan, India, Lithuania, Bulgaria and many others.

The team of “Digitalization, Innovation and Economic Development” (Innovative Sofia) will have a separate virtual stand, where we will present Sofia and Bulgaria as an innovative, digital and business destination and will tell about their already implemented projects and their future initiatives. Representatives of the global ecosystem will have the opportunity to get acquainted with Sofia as a fintech destination, the activities of the Sofia Municipality and Innovative Sofia, the achieved results and our vision for digital transformation and innovative urban development.

On September 29 from 16:20 to 17:10 (UTC +3) Mr. Gencho Kerezov, Deputy Mayor for Digitalization, Innovation and Economic Development of the Sofia Municipality, will join the panel with international participation “Engines of growth of the future – fintech hubs”.

Within the forum, the team of Innovative Sofia will also organize the panel “Sofia and Bulgaria as a fintech destination in Central and Eastern Europe.” It will include representatives of the Sofia Municipality and the local ecosystem, who will present the positioning of the capital and Bulgaria in the fintech world, as well as the level of developed technologies, which are increasingly used globally. Successful initiatives and good practices from fintech and the innovation sector will be discussed, as well as opportunities for international cooperation in the field of digitalization, technology and economic development.
