Gencho Kerezov will Participate in a Meeting for the European Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities

On December 14, from 14:00 to 15:30, a meeting of the European Commission will be held in connection with the support of cities, where the opportunity will be presented to the municipalities to join the Mission for Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities. The event aims to inform Bulgarian municipalities about the opportunities and benefits they have within the Mission of Cities, paying special attention to the local urban context.

The mission for climate-neutral and smart cities is a new European initiative launched on September 29, 2021 and a detailed description of the project can be found here.

The event provides an opportunity to ask specific questions and will be useful for members of city councils and municipal staff, as well as urban stakeholders from the public and private sectors (transport, energy, built environment, waste management, urban planning, etc.). , scientific and academic circles, civil society platforms and non – governmental organizations.

The Deputy Mayor for Digitalization of Sofia Municipality Gencho Kerezov will participate in the first part of the event, where Deputy. Matthew Baldwin, Director General for Mobility and Transport at the European Commission, will present the City Mission from the perspective of the European Commission. Tsvetan Kyulanov (Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria) and Boris Bonev (Member of the Municipal Council of Sofia Municipality and co-founder of Save Sofia) will speak about the local implementation of the mission.
