Digital and Sustainable Bulgaria: The Little Ones in Focus

An international round table on “Digital and Sustainable Bulgaria: The Little Ones in Focus” was held on September 21, organized by the Union for Private Economic Enterprise, the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency(BSMEPA), the European Cyber Security Organization (ECSO) and the Bulgarian Cybersecurity Association (BCA).

The main theme of the event was the common goal of building a digitalized and sustainable Bulgaria with an economy based on high added value. Where the director of “Innovative Sofia” Dobrinka Blagova was invited to take part of the discussion.

The focus of the discussions was on the challenges facing the digitalization of the Bulgarian economy, encouraging the widespread use of new technologies – artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, cybersecurity and others, as well as building a bridge between all stakeholders – business, academia, public authorities and European institutions.

The round table was held in two consecutive panels “Digital Bulgaria” and “Cyber-resistant Bulgaria”, where the main panellists were:

Maria Gabriel: EU Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth;

Atanas Pekanov: Deputy Prime Minister for Management of European Funds;

Luigi Rebuffi: Secretary-General of the European Cyber ​​Security Organization (ECSO);

Violina Nakova: President of the Union for Business Initiative;

– and others.

During the event, EU Commissioner Maria Gabriel said that Bulgaria has its strengths in terms of digitalization, information and communication technologies. According to her, a more comprehensive approach is quite possible to bring forward the positive aspects, which with concrete instruments supported by the European Union will bring many benefits.
